Essential Duties:

Cleans vehicular interiors to include driver's compartment, walls, ceilings, windows, handrails, mirrors, seats, stepwells, and floors using appropriate equipment and chemicals.

Removes gum, candy and other foreign materials from vehicular interiors.

Vacuums and shampoos carpets.

Assists in cleaning of work areas; assists in preparing cleaning materials

Reports damage, broken items, and upholstery defects on defect forms.

Uses bloodborne pathogens protocols to sanitize exposed vehicular interiors

Responds to in-service vehicular interior cleaning situations via non-revenue vehicle.

Performs other duties related to vehicular interior cleaning within classification as assigned. Assists in minor levels of exterior cleaning.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of the care and use of mops, brooms, scrub brushes, dusters, vacuum cleaners, and shampoo machines.

Knowledge of the use of cleaning materials such as soaps, powders and cleaning chemicals.

Ability to rapidly learn the activities and procedures related to the duties and responsibilities required by this position.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with staff.

Ability to attend trainings on cleaning techniques, bloodborne pathogens protocols, and hazardous chemical protocols.

Physical ability to lift in excess of 25 pounds.

Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Licensing Requirements:

Must be able to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays if system service requires.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Washington State driver's license of the category necessary to satisfy Department of Transportation regulations; must maintain an acceptable driving record level throughout employment as monitored by periodic reviews of driving record.

Must pass a job-offer employment related physical examination to include a drug and alcohol screen prior to appointment.

Effective May 18, 2009: Must pass a Washington State Patrol and/or other agency type background check.

Physical Requirements:

Duties are primarily performed in a vehicle service and storage area on system grounds where the employee may work in close quarters and be exposed to hazards related to refuse and chemicals within OSHA safety standards. Duties require the physical movements to clean vehicular interiors, including bending, kneeling, and crouching. Duties require lifting in excess of 25 pounds.

Training and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED desirable.

One (1) year experience in janitorial, custodial, commercial car wash or related experience desirable.

Any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job will be considered.
