Traffic impacts on Cleveland Avenue and Emerson Street expected

Tumwater, WA – A joint project between the City of Tumwater and Intercity Transit will install wider sidewalks with curbs and gutters, crosswalks with rapid flashing beacons, curb extensions (bulb-outs), new asphalt, and improved bus stops and benches at Tumwater Square Station. The station is located along Cleveland Avenue and Emerson Street, adjacent to the Tumwater Safeway. Construction will begin on March 5 and is expected to last through late April. Access to businesses will remain open throughout the project.

Cleveland Avenue and Emerson Street will be open during construction although drivers should expect periodic traffic impacts. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid the construction area.

The construction will impact Intercity Transit routes 12, 13, 43 and 68. Temporary bus stops will be in place during construction. Riders are advised to look for information about changes to their bus lines at www.intercitytransit.com.
